    Add your PDFs

    Choose PDFs or drag them into the preview. The first PDF opens as a vertical list of large pages, which is the easiest place to place the date. Use Add More to add others later.

    Add the date

    • Pick a date and a format, then a font, a style, a size, a colour and, if you like, a background.
    • Click on the page where the date should start.
    • Click the date to select it. Drag it to move it, change its options, or press Delete. Undo steps back.
    • Press Ctrl+A (Cmd+A on a Mac) to select every date in your PDFs, then change the options to change them all.
    • Press Ctrl+C then Ctrl+V (Cmd+C then Cmd+V on a Mac) to copy the selected date and paste it where your pointer is on the page.

    Add Date and download

    Click Add Date, then Download. Change anything and the button goes back to Add Date, ready for another run. Several PDFs download together as a ZIP.

How it works

The date is added over the page with one of the PDF standard fonts, so it stays sharp at any zoom and can be selected and searched. Because the page itself is never redrawn, its own text, images, links and forms stay exactly as they were.

After the file is made, it is opened again and compared with your original: the page count, page sizes, rotation, text and links must all match what they should. If anything differs, no file is produced for that PDF.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I put the date in the same spot every time? Yes. Under Position pick one of the nine spots, such as bottom right, then click anywhere on a page and the date goes to that spot, a little in from the edge. On Click puts it where you click. With a date selected, picking a spot moves it there.
  • Is my PDF uploaded anywhere? No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device. Your PDF is never sent to a server.
  • How do I add a date? The date starts as today. Change it if you like, pick a format, then click on the page where the date should start. Click it afterwards to select it, and the options change it.
  • Which formats can I use? Six: 17 October 2026, October 17, 2026, 17 Oct 2026, 2026-10-17, 17/10/2026 and 10/17/2026. The list shows each one for the date you picked.
  • Is the date real text? Yes. It is added with a standard PDF font, so it stays sharp and can be selected and searched.
  • Can I date every page? Yes. Under Pages choose 'Every Page', then click once. A copy goes in the same place on every page of that PDF, and moving or changing one moves them all.
  • Will the page underneath change? No. The date is added over the page, and the page itself is never redrawn.
  • Can the date be changed later? It becomes part of the page, so it cannot be edited once the PDF is saved. Keep your original file if you might want to change it.
  • Which PDFs are not supported? Password-protected PDFs cannot be processed. Remove the password first with PDF Password Unlock. Digitally signed PDFs can be processed, but rewriting the file invalidates the signature.

What happens to your file

Nothing is uploaded, stored on a server or tracked. Your PDFs stay in your browser's memory until you remove them or close the page. The date becomes part of each page, so it cannot be edited afterwards.

How to get the most out of it

  • Use Every Page to date a whole document.
  • Pick a date format that matches the rest of your paperwork, so the order of day and month is never confused.
  • To add a signature beside the date, use Add Signature to PDF.
  • Keep your original file. Marks cannot be edited once the PDF is saved.
