    • Text and graphics stay sharp and selectable, and a scan keeps its quality.
    • Split all pages or only the ones you pick.
    • Split many PDFs at once, with a ZIP download.
    • Free, no limits, no watermark, and it works offline after your first visit.

How it works

Each page you chose becomes two pages that share its content. One shows the first half and the other the second half, by setting what part of the page is visible. Nothing is redrawn or turned into a picture, so quality stays the same.

After the file is made, it is opened again and compared with your original: every split page must give two pages of half the size, and every page you did not split must be exactly as it was. If anything differs, no file is produced for that PDF.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is my PDF uploaded anywhere? No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device. Your PDF is never sent to a server.
  • Can I change only some of the pages? Yes. Click pages in the preview to pick them (or drag across several), use All, First, Last, Odd or Even, or type a range such as 1-3, 5. With nothing picked, every page is changed. Pages you do not pick stay exactly as they were.
  • What is this for? Mostly for scans of books and magazines, where each scanned page shows two pages side by side. Splitting gives one page per page.
  • Which half comes first? Choose 'Left or Top First' for books read left to right. Choose 'Right or Bottom First' for languages read right to left.
  • Is the page turned into a picture? No. Each new page shows one half of the original, using the same content, so text stays real text and a scan keeps its quality.
  • Does the file get much bigger? No. Both halves use the same content as the original page, so only a small page entry is added.
  • What if the split is not in the middle? The cut is exactly in the middle. If the scan is off-centre, use Crop PDF Pages afterwards to trim each page.
  • Which PDFs are not supported? Password-protected PDFs cannot be processed. Remove the password first with PDF Password Unlock. Digitally signed PDFs can be processed, but rewriting the file invalidates the signature.

What happens to your file

Nothing is uploaded, stored on a server or tracked. Your PDFs stay in your browser's memory until you remove them or close the page. The finished PDF is a new file. Your original is never changed.

How to get the most out of it

  • Scan a book with the spine in the middle of the glass, then split the spreads here.
  • Trim any leftover edges afterwards with Crop PDF Pages.
  • To put the pages in a different order, use Reorganize PDF Pages.
