How it works

A new PDF is built from the pages you keep and the new pages, which are copied from the other PDF and put where the first replaced page was. The old pages, and what was on them, are not copied.

After the new PDF is saved, it is opened again to check that every page has the text, size, turn and links of the page it came from.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is my PDF uploaded anywhere? No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device. Your PDF is never sent to a server.
  • How do I replace one page? Click that page in the preview to pick it, choose the PDF with the new page, and click Replace Pages. If the new PDF has more pages than you want, type the page you want in Pages to Use.
  • The new pages are not the same number as the old ones. Is that a problem? No. The picked pages are taken out, and the new pages are put in as one block where the first picked page was. A page can be replaced with two pages, or two pages with one.
  • Where do the new pages go if I pick pages that are apart? At the place of the first picked page. The other picked pages are removed from where they were.
  • Are the replaced pages really gone? Yes. The new PDF is built from the pages you keep and the new pages, so the old pages and what was on them are not in it.
  • What about bookmarks and form fields? The pages are copied with their text, links and notes, but the bookmarks and form fields of the original PDF are not carried over.
  • Can the PDF with the new pages have a password? No. Remove the password first with PDF Password Unlock.
  • Which PDFs are not supported? Password-protected PDFs cannot be processed. Remove the password first with PDF Password Unlock. Digitally signed PDFs can be processed, but rewriting the file invalidates the signature.

What happens to your file

Nothing is uploaded, stored on a server or tracked. Your files stay in your browser's memory until you remove them or close the page. Both PDFs are read and combined on your device and saved as a new PDF.

How to get the most out of it

  • To swap just one page, pick it and use Pages to Use for the one page you want.
  • Keep your original until you have checked the result.
  • To only add pages and keep the old ones, use Insert PDF into PDF.
