   Add your PDFs

   Choose PDFs or drag them into the preview. Use Add More to add others later.

   Choose the overlay

   • Click Choose PDF and pick the PDF to lay on your pages.
   • Choose whether it goes over or under, which page of it to use, and its size and opacity.
   • Pick the pages to change. With nothing picked, every page gets the overlay.

   Overlay PDF and download

   Click Overlay PDF, then Download. Change any option and the button goes back to Overlay PDF, ready for another run. Several files download together as a ZIP.

How it works

The pages of the overlay are copied into your PDF once, then drawn on each picked page as a separate layer, scaled and centred as you chose. Your own page is not changed.

After the new PDF is saved, it is opened again to check that every page still has its size, turn and links, and all of its own text, together with the text of the overlay.

Frequently asked questions

• Is my PDF uploaded anywhere? No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device. Your PDF is never sent to a server.
• What is it good for? A letterhead or a logo behind every page, a Confidential or Draft page laid over the top, a signed page laid over a form, or a printed grid laid under a drawing.
• What does Page by Page do? Page 1 of the overlay goes on page 1, page 2 on page 2 and so on. Pages that come after the last page of the overlay are left as they are. One Page on All uses the one page of the overlay that you choose (page 1 unless you type another number) for every page.
• Over or under? Over the Page lays the overlay on top, so it can cover what is below. Under the Page puts it behind, so the page’s own text and pictures stay in front. Under works best for a letterhead, and only shows through where the page has no background of its own.
• Does it fit the overlay to the page? Fit to Page scales the overlay to fill the page without distortion and centres it. Original Size keeps its size and centres it.
• Is the overlay merged into the page? It is added as a separate layer drawn with the page. Nothing in the page is changed, and the text of both stays real text.
• Can the overlay PDF have a password? No. Remove the password first with PDF Password Unlock.
• Which PDFs are not supported? Password-protected PDFs cannot be processed. Remove the password first with PDF Password Unlock. Digitally signed PDFs can be processed, but rewriting the file invalidates the signature.

What happens to your file

Nothing is uploaded, stored on a server or tracked. Your files stay in your browser's memory until you remove them or close the page. Both PDFs are read and combined on your device and saved as a new PDF.

How to get the most out of it

• For a letterhead, choose 'Under the Page'. If the page has a white background of its own, the letterhead is hidden, so choose 'Over the Page' with an opacity of about 30%.
• For a watermark page, use Over the Page and a low opacity.
• Use Page by Page to lay a different form on each page.
