How it works

The pages you named are copied from the other PDF and put into your PDF at the place you chose. The pages of your own PDF are not touched, and nothing is redrawn.

After the new PDF is saved, it is opened again to check that every page, old and new, has the text, size, turn and links of the page it came from.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is my PDF uploaded anywhere? No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device. Your PDF is never sent to a server.
  • How is this different from Merge PDFs? Merge puts whole files one after another. Insert puts the pages of one PDF in the middle of another, after the page you choose.
  • Can I insert only some pages? Yes. Type a range such as 1-3, 5 in Pages to Insert. Leave it empty to insert every page of the other PDF.
  • What does After Page mean? The pages go in right after the page number you type. After page 3 means the inserted pages become pages 4, 5 and so on, and the old page 4 moves down.
  • Can I insert into many PDFs? Yes. Add all the PDFs to change. Each one gets a copy of the inserted pages. A PDF with fewer pages than the number you typed is not changed, and you are told.
  • What about bookmarks and form fields? Pages are copied with their text, links and notes. The bookmarks and form fields of the other PDF are not copied, and those of your PDF are kept.
  • Can the PDF to insert have a password? No. Remove the password first with PDF Password Unlock.
  • Which PDFs are not supported? Password-protected PDFs cannot be processed. Remove the password first with PDF Password Unlock. Digitally signed PDFs can be processed, but rewriting the file invalidates the signature.

What happens to your file

Nothing is uploaded, stored on a server or tracked. Your files stay in your browser's memory until you remove them or close the page. Both PDFs are read and combined on your device and saved as a new PDF.

How to get the most out of it

  • To add a cover or a form at the very start, choose 'At the Start'.
  • Use the preview to find the page number you want to insert after.
  • To put pages in a different order afterwards, use Reorganize Pages.
