How it works

The border is drawn as one extra layer on top of each picked page, using the page as you see it, so a turned or cropped page needs no special care. The original content is not touched.

After the new PDF is saved, it is opened again to check that every page still has its size, turn, text and links.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is my PDF uploaded anywhere? No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device. Your PDF is never sent to a server.
  • Does the border cover my content? It is drawn on top, as a thin line, so it only hides what lies directly under the line. Use a larger distance from the edge to keep it clear of your content.
  • Can I put the border on some pages only? Yes. Click the pages you want in the preview, or type a range such as 1-3, 5. With nothing picked, every page gets a border.
  • What does Double do? It draws two thin lines, one inside the other, which together are as wide as the width you chose.
  • Why does the border move on a rotated page? It does not. The border follows the page as you see it, so it is always the same distance from the edge you see.
  • Does it change my page content? No. The border is a separate layer on top of the page. The text, pictures and links under it are not touched.
  • The distance is too big for my page. What happens? You are told, and no file is made. Use a smaller distance or a thinner line.
  • Which PDFs are not supported? Password-protected PDFs cannot be processed. Remove the password first with PDF Password Unlock. Digitally signed PDFs can be processed, but rewriting the file invalidates the signature.

What happens to your file

Nothing is uploaded, stored on a server or tracked. Your files stay in your browser's memory until you remove them or close the page. The border is added on your device and saved as a new PDF.

How to get the most out of it

  • A distance of 8 to 12 mm keeps the border inside the area most printers can print.
  • Use a thin double line for a certificate look.
  • To put a coloured background behind the pages, use Add Background Color to PDF.
